Backup jobs reporting a healthy result
A backup job should report ok, not warning, error or attention_required — a job silently failing is worse than no backup at all, because nobody is looking for the gap until a restore is needed.
Interpret the result in context
A successful job status is not a restore test. Warnings and errors should be investigated in the backup product with the workload’s recovery requirements in mind.
Configure the expectation.
Use this baseline as a starting point. You can also build your own controls and standards from integration data, with client-specific requirements and documented exceptions.
A fixed baseline expectation
This shipped control has no adjustable numerical threshold. Review its applicability and record approved exclusions for the client.
Review. Remediate. Verify.
Use one-click remediation where the integration and action support it, or the evidence to guide the technician’s next step.
- 01
Inspect the job result and its specific warning or error.
- 02
Resolve the underlying issue and rerun the job where appropriate.
- 03
Confirm a healthy result and retain the relevant restore-test evidence separately.
A completed action is only part of the record. Refresh the supporting evidence to establish whether the finding has cleared.
Make your baseline part of every client review.
Connect checks, findings and remediation to the same client record.
